golgothas refers to the Biblical location sometimes called Calvary, the hill where Jesus Christ is said to have been crucified and whose names both roughly mean "place of the skull", referencing Jake's interest in graves and skulls. Jake also shares John's chumhandle initials.

As Hussie himself points out, Jake's new family name gives him the same initials as his son John Egbert. Unlike the Beta Kids, and like the rest of the Alpha Kids, Jake's name is purely of Andrew Hussie's creation: which is to say his placronym was already filled out on his thirteenth birthday, and you would have just given him some “ vulgar, childish moniker ” like “ Barfbreath Turdsmirk ” anyway. The young Caliborn, however, was inspired to take the name himself after defeating the Heroes, giving the name a paradoxical origin. His surname English obviously alludes to L ord English, having been taken by his Grandma Jade Harley to frighten their enemy the Condesce. ” The capitalized words hint at his mythological role as the Page of Hope.Īs with the rest of the members of his family, Jake's name begins with the letter J, and is in fact only one letter removed from his daughter's name. Īccording to Jake's introduction page, he believes “ here is a good SKULL at the heart of any mystery, haunting its EVERY PAGE. Jake's, meanwhile, is darker: while Becsprite was briefly depicted in a color lighter than her text, this was quickly changed to match the ink color in Jake's letter. The rest of the Alpha Kids' eye colors are lighter than their children's colors, loosely matching the colors of the kernelsprites. Similarly, Aradia and Jake share the trait of their dream selves having been entombed before their games of Sburb even started.

Jake's connection to the Angel of Double Death lends toward a connection with archaeology and tombs: this is a trait he shares with Aradia Megido, who also serves an important part in English's scheme. It also mirrors the symbol of one of the Beta Kids, Rose Lalonde, who wears a grim skull-like Squiddle.

Jake's symbol is the green skull of a cherub, derived from the L ord English logo of his Grandma's company.
